Chincoteague Sunset Rentals
Island vacations at their finest.......

A few of the many local attractions......

The Assateague Island Lighthouse is located 1/4 mile away from Chincoteague Island and is maintained by the National Park Service and Fish and Wildlife Service. The Lighthouse was constructed in 1833 and has warned ships and watermen of the shallow waters off of Assateague Island for many years. Take a tour and get a close up look at this fine piece of history.

The Assateague Island National Seashore is a great place to spend time. Many animals, birds and fish inhabit the Chincoteague Fish and Wildlife Refuge. Bird watching is among the favorites of visitors where you will see a variety of species including herons, egrets, waterfowl, sandpipers and bald eagles. Many visitors enjoy camping, hiking, bicycling, bird and pony watching. Make sure to take in the saltwater breeze on our unspoiled beach where you can fish, swim or just relax in the sun.

Chincoteague Island is home to the World Famous Wild Ponies and the Annual Pony Swim. Watch as the Saltwater Cowboys heard the ponies across the Assateague Channel to the Chincoteague Volunteer Firemen's Carnival grounds where they auction some of the ponies. This is a magical experience for the young and the young at heart.
